AEP Channel Counties Chapter

To enhance, maintain and protect the quality of the natural and human environment

Welcome to the AEP Channel Counties Chapter serving Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties. Our diverse geography and coastal influences along the Central Coast provide a rich backdrop for carrying out our charge to provide technical and social enrichment programs and services to our members. We enjoy a balance of public and private sector environmental professionals and are host to active student chapters at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and the UCSB Bren School of Environmental Management. We enjoy networking opportunities among professionals as well as students at our programs. We find it important to encourage and support students pursing environmental majors as they are our future professionals with many success stories to support that claim. To support students in their academic studies we have established the Ned Rogoway Memorial Scholarship Fund. Follow the links to find out about Ned’s profound influence on environmental work in our Chapter, our current sponsors and awards, and how you can contribute to this important program of student support.

Our three-county chapter provides challenges to meeting the program needs of our members (not uncommon in other AEP chapters) so we strive to host social events and technical programs in each county and to “bookend” the spring CEQA update and fall CEQA basics workshops in SLO and Santa Barbara or Ventura. We thank San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties and the City of Ventura for providing us with the free venues for the CEQA workshops and other programs that contribute immensely to keeping the AEP programs some of the most affordable available.

The new State and Chapter websites have been developed to provide information and tools for our members to enjoy including a searchable CEQA Statutes and Guidelines. We will be actively posting our upcoming events, providing photos of past events, and have a member’s photo gallery page for you to show your images that represent our Chapter area. As always, we welcome your suggestions for programs and services so we can best meet the needs of our members, colleagues, and students in the environmental industry. Thanks!
